Sure, celebrating the holidays this year will look a lot different, but many venues around the Bay Area are making adjustments to accommodate families and ensure you can still get your fill of your favorite holiday traditions. Check out the list below, make arrangements ahead of time, mask up and enjoy the season!

 

SAN FRANCISCO

  • Clancy’s Trees is a favorite past-time in the city. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., visits are limited to 20 minutes to allow for proper social distancing. Clancy’s offers a variety of freshly cut and live Christmas trees from small, trusted family farms in the area and even from their own plantation in Oregon.
  • Although there won’t be a meet-and-greet with Santa this year, the giant Union Square Christmas tree is up and still the perfect backdrop for holiday cards.
  • If you’re a fan of the American Conservatory Theatre’s annual production of Charles Dickins’ A Christmas Carol, it is making its first debut as an old fashioned radio-style broadcast! Tickets are available for streaming December 5th-31st.

EAST BAY / SACRAMENTO

  • Glowfari at the Zoo in Oakland is putting on a brand new experience this year for safe family-friendly fun. From December 1st-January 17th, the exhibit features hundreds of larger-than-life animal lanterns throughout the zoo, storytelling the ongoing journey of wildlife, and Oakland Zoo’s commitment to conservation.
  • Follow Santa on a parade through twinkly lights and multicultural displays at Fairy Winterland in Oakland. While there, you can drop your child’s letter to Santa in his mailbox – Children’s Fairyland will make sure he gets it!
  • Take a drive or stroll down the decked out Christmas Tree Lane in Alameda. Located at the 3200 block of Thompson Ave., between High and Fernside, the display runs from December 5th-31st.
  • Hope on the River Fox Train in Sacramento for a magical holiday ride. Each car will have their very own elf who will guide from in sing-a-longs, elf games, and fun elf activities!

PENINSULA

  • Take a drive through Christmas at the Park at Historic Park in San Jose. This holiday fantasy land has over 40 musical and animated exhibits, glittering lights and a 50-foot tree!
