Parents have high expectations when it comes to who will be looking after their children, so first impressions are key. Having a professional and trustworthy appearance may just make the difference between landing that dream job or not. Follow the tips below to show off what a fantastic nanny you are.

Use Professional Emails

Your email usage should reflect well on you. Begin by choosing a professional email address; using your full name is a good rule of thumb to follow. When you email back and forth, use a greeting and salutation with every email. Use proper spelling and grammar while avoiding slang or emojis. Your email platform may have a spell-check system that you can use, or you can have a friend proof-read your emails before sending it to catch any mistakes.

Look Critically at Your Social Media

Prospective clients will likely be Googling you before or after your interview. Make sure that what they find reflects well on you. If your social media pages have content you wouldn’t want them to see, then set all these accounts to private. Create a LinkedIn page with all your nannying experience to show that you are a true professional.

Dress Appropriately

A nannying interview tends to be a little different than your typical one. You likely won’t need to wear the full business attire with high heels, but you don’t want to be too casual either. Choose professional-looking, conservative clothing that shows you are responsible and qualified. If you’ll be meeting the kids, wear clothing that you’ll be comfortable sitting on the floor in.
